The question of priestly identity was one of the major concerns raised at the 1990 Synod of Bishop. The Synod considered evidence which shows that many priests experience difficulty in establishing a stable sense of priestly identity. In order to help clarify the exact nature of the problem, this work seeks to identify and evaluate the anthropology implicit in the documents of the VIII Synod of Bishops and the post-synodal apostolic exhortation Pastores dabo vobis. The theory of self-trascendent consistency is used as a framework for exploring the kind of maturity required for priestly identity; the work explores some of the intrapsychic dynamics that anhance the development of a stable and mature priestly identity.
Timothy Costello, his doctoral thesis was awarded the Bellarmine Prize by the Gregorian University in 1998.

This work investigates the heightened understanding of the eschatological dimension of baptism which derives from juxtaposing the Old Testament notion of prophetic action, or ot and the thomistic concept of the sacramental sign as signum prognosticum. In this work the christian community anticipates its hope in the future, awakens its faith in the past and forges a present where love finds a home between memory and promise.
Liam Bergin, native of Ireland, is completed doctoral studies at the Gregorian University and now teaches sacramental theology.

Since bishop John Caroll founded Georgetown College in 1789, catholic universities and university-level colleges, numbering today as many as 230 institutiones, have had, through their training of generations of catholic leaders and their contributions to secular and sacred scholarship a profound influence on the life of the Church in the U.S. The author studies the various ways in which these institutions have related to the church, before controlled by the sponsoring religious institutes, developed greater autonomy from them.
James Jerome Conn studied theology at Woodstock college and canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University where he earned his doctorate.

This volume develops the positive philosophy of woman which Thomas held. This philosophy which is seen as a specification of integral humanism, is termed integral feminism. The workdispells many misconceptions about Aquinas' view of woman. These errors include the idea that woman: is a masoccasionatus, has no equality with man, is a slave, and is not by nature an imago Dei. This work is divided into five parts.
Joseph Francis Hartel, 1952, began his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University and was awarded a Ph. L. in philosophy magna cum laude.
